My name is William Janelle, a sculptor and woodworker, turned cigar box guitar maker. I’ve been playing the acoustic guitar for years and got turned on to building CBGs. I had the idea of building my own resonator guitar from some pine boards I had in my woodworking shop. It ended up turning into a project that I seem to not be able to get enough of.
From the humble first guitars, I have grown to appreciate the uniqueness of each cigar box and its challenges. I’ve to incorporated some of the skills I have as a sculptor and use them where I can in shaping the necks and headstocks.
I’ve also enjoy making my own single-coil and humbucker pickups.
I reside in lakes region of Western Maine with my wife, Loraine and dog, Isabel.
